Raleigh and surrounding cities, come catch the vibe. YahZarah headlines a Friday night of live soul, grown-folks R&B, and hip-hop at The Pour House. With a gospel-rooted voice that can take a room from a hush to a roar, she moves from intimate soul to full-throttle funk and rock ’n’ roll.
You’ve heard her on Erykah Badu’s Mama’s Gun. She’s toured with Badu and Lenny Kravitz, shared stages with Prince and The Roots, and earned GRAMMY® consideration in six categories for The Ballad of Purple St. James. This January, catch her up close at The Pour House.
Hip-hop poet Mr. Rozzi brings sharp wit, vivid storytelling, and straight bars like the ones he delivers on “Gentle Giant,” his collaboration with D.R.U.G.S. BEATS. J. THE ARTIST brings grown-and-sexy soul with a hip-hop pulse, from the bass-heavy bounce of “Unwind” to the side-eye of “Somebody Else.” Greensboro singer-songwriter and independent filmmaker Alyze Elyse, a Women Songwriters Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement honoree, adds Southern soul and R&B to the bill.
Top Shelf helps open the show, with performances by Hiromenbipp, Veteran Eye, and Nae Thrills. Greensboro emcee N-Tyce of the Wu-Tang-affiliated Deadly Venoms hosts, and Supa Producer DJ Vanex, whose production credits include work with French Montana and 8Ball & MJG, keeps the dance floor moving into the after-party.
